A Beginner’s Guide to Squarespace Newsletter Blocks

You can use the Squarespace newsletter block to grow your email list!

Having a list of email addresses that belong to people who want to hear from you is an important part of any modern business.

The Squarespace newsletter block makes it easy for anyone to sign up for your email list so you can send them important information.

This newsletter block works with Squarespace email campaigns, and can also connect to Mailchimp, Google drive, and Zapier.

How to add a newsletter block to Squarespace

  1. Select edit on the top left-hand side of your website preview.

  2. Click the add block option on a page section, or the plus sign inside classic editor.*

  3. Select the newsletter option form the list of content blocks.

  4. Double click on the newsletter block, or click once and select the pencil icon to open the content block edit options.

  5. The content tab in the newsletter block has demo content that you can replace with your own. Your first option is for the form title which will be used in your email notifications. The remaining fields are title, description, disclaimer, and button text. You will also be able to toggle on the first name option in the content tab if you want to collection that information in addition to email address.

  6. Your post submit options are located at the bottom of the content tab. You can customize the message displayed to your new subscribers, or redirect them to a new page or other content.

  7. Use the design tab, you have a lot of great options including background, border (stroke), and alignment settings. For additional details on your design tab, check out the next section of this article.

  8. The final tab is where you decide how the data submitted will be stored. You can link directly to Squarespace campaigns, Google Drive, Zapier or Mailchimp.

Squarespace newsletter block design settings

You can change the color for all aspects of your newsletter block using the options inside color themes in your site styles menu. To reach these options, click on the paintbrush icon, located in the top right corner. Click on color and select the color theme the newsletter block is using. Scroll down to the newsletter blockssection and change the color for the fonts, button, and background to match your website style.

You can change the font style for your newsletter block using the font section of your Site Styles menu. Click on Assign Fonts at the bottom of your main font menu, and scroll down until you see Newsletter Block. Here, you’ll be able to customize the style of your newsletter block title, description, form field(s), submit button, and your footnote, often referred to as disclaimer while editng.
