Squarespace's own documentation is thorough, but it's written to describe features, not to help you make good decisions about them. There's a difference.

Every tutorial here includes an honest opinion: when to reach for something, when to skip it, what real sites get wrong, and what actually makes a difference to how your site looks and works. You’ll find step by step instructions, design insight, pro tips, common mistakes, and Becca’s designer take on different features.

Becca has built sites for clients and reviewed more DIY websites than she can count. The patterns she sees in what works, and what doesn't, are baked into every post on this site.

In addition to this blog, she runs InsideTheSquare.co and is also a stay-at-home mom, which means she understands building a site in real life, with real constraints. The goal has always been simple: help you build something you're proud of.
